We had a lot of fun this year performing holiday music around the community. At the lighting of the Blanco Courthouse we performed upstairs with Santa Clause! It was so much fun playing Christmas music and watching the kids sit on Santa’s lap. We also enjoyed playing at the Christmas Market days on the square, the Henry House, and at the Red Bud Cafe. Great job to all the students and special thanks to our voice instructor Julie Prejean. Brenda has been playing the piano nearly all her life. She was whisked off to piano lessons at the tender age of 5 when her mother discovered little Brenda plunking out “Jesus Loves Me” on the family piano. She took piano lessons all through high school, played for Sunday services and church choirs, and then took a brief hiatus to obtain an English degree. At UNCC, Brenda played for the University orchestra as well as serving as an accompanist for various musicians and singers. Brenda then auditioned for and was accepted into the UT-Austin Music School, where she studied with Prof. Nancy Garrett for 3 years. She continued to accompany singers, instrumentalists, and small groups. Over the years, Brenda taught piano lessons and participated in various musical activities here and there. She currently teaches piano lessons at The Hill Country Sound Situation, plays for Sunday services and the choir at Blanco United Methodist Church, and accompanies the Blanco County Community Choir and the Canyon Lake High School choir. She was recently hired to accompany the Wimberley Community Choir for their Spring 2015 concert season. All of these musical endeavors are extremely enjoyable to Brenda, and she especially enjoys teaching her students at Sound Situation.
